The school has asked the PTO to send out a message to parents who drop-off or pick-up their students. They have switched the direction of the drop-off area by the front office-- we are now supposed to enter on the west side and exit on the east, opposite of how we've done it in years past.
MATH We have started ch. 2. It is on division of whole numbers. The class average for basic facts was 28 problems per minute, up from 22 last week. This is a huge jump. Good job! Ask your student what their weekly average is. SCIENCE We have started our study of magnetism and electricity. We are going to be doing a project that requires a 9 volt battery. We are working on our electricity project. Ask your student about these. I will send pictures of these as we present them next week.
READING Our focus is on the 24 book challenge. I looked at the reading journals and most students need to work on neatness and reading what they write after they write it in order to make sure it makes sense. Students should have read at least 3 books by now.
Our Mammoth Cave and Cedar Breaks field trip will be on the 25th of September. We leave at 8 am and return by 2:30 pm. I have two dads who are able to go with us . Please make sure the permission trip gets signed and returned.
Please have your student show you there grades on power school. They know how to do it.
Here's a note from the PTO
We'd like to encourage everyone to help their child set up a profile for the Read-a-Thon Fundraiser. Each child was sent home a Reading Adventure paper with their own secret code on it to get started. If they set up a profile, they will qualify for the first prize, and we would like everyone to be able to go home with this prize.
Thanks so much for your help with the fundraiser. This is such a great opportunity for us to keep our focus on education and still raise the money we need to directly benefit the school and teachers. Setting up a profile only takes a few minutes, so we hope you'll play along!
